3. Took the kids on a few hikes right next to the campground and we enjoyed it.
2. There were only two dumpster locations for the entire campground and both required us to drive our trash in the truck to get there.
A few inconveniences:
Clean, relatively quiet & great amenities for families of any size. Would have given them 5 stars but there are too many golf carts traveling from sunrise to well after sunset. Gets annoying after awhile.
6. The office and store staff were not at all polite or welcoming. When we checked in, we were handed a big packet with a "here you go" and sent on our way. No direction, no welcome, no anything that even resembled a "we're glad you're here" Seemed annoyed by any question that we asked them throughout the week and generally didn't seem happy to be there.
1. The beach was beautifully kept, the water was clean and we had a great time swimming!
4. The layout of the campground prevented us from riding our bikes from place to place because our four year old wouldn't be able to make it up many of the hills.
My kids loved it here. So much for them to do and everyone was very nice. Campgrounds were extremely clean as were the facilities. The girls who ran the activities for the kids were wonderful. Each week is a different theme and the kids always had something to do or make. Wonderful. I also like that it was a gated community. Loved the bike moguls for my son to ride. Lots to do. Next time we will stay a little longer. My kids didn't want to leave. : )
Overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again for a whole week. Even though the water was beautiful, the annoyances didn't make our stay as relaxing as we hoped. Definitely disappointed.
2. The lake really is great for canoeing and water sports.
Well constructed and maintained, clean facilities, friendly staff. Great pools, lake access. Great place for kids to ride their bikes and make new friends. I almost removed a star because the firewood they sold us was terrible. We love it there but it fills up in the summer, so hard to get in unless you plan well in advance.
We're staying at The Bluffs section for the 50-plus crowd, and we love it here. "Exceptional," says my wife. "Peace, quiet. Can't say enough nice about this place." Friendly neighbors, easy access to amenities, no lines at facilities (such as the laundromat), and the list goes on. We're enjoying relaxation like never before, and we've both been retired; she for almost three years and me for a little more than one. Did I mention we love it here?!!
5. Security didn't seem to want to offer help. As a neighbor camper was trying to back into his site, two security staff had been sitting and talking in their golf carts nearby. Instead of offering to help when it was clearly needed, they drove away. We were in the middle of supper, but stopped eating to help him out.
Redeemable qualities:
3. Because the campground is so big and hilly, people use golf carts to get around. They are loud and annoying. Security also uses golf carts to "patrol" the campground and passed by our site very often. Because this campground had a security gate to get in, the constant security driving seemed redundant.
Stayed for one week in our 29' trailer. Our site was large; however, it wasn't level with the road making backing it in very challenging. In fact, there was such a slope that we almost had to remove our stabilizer jacks so they wouldn't break off from hitting the ground! When making our reservation, the office staff knew how big our camper was and I am very, very surprised that they booked us in that particular site.
1. The bathrooms were clean, but only had a single stall and often had a line. Since we have a family of four, we rely on using both our camper bathroom and the campground bathroom - so having only a single stall with a line to use it was frustrating.
